BI’s Article search uses Boolean search capabilities. If you are not familiar with these principles, here are some quick tips.

To search specifically for more than one word, put the search term in quotation marks. For example, “workers compensation”. This will limit your search to that combination of words.

To search for a combination of terms, use quotations and the & symbol. For example, “hurricane” & “loss”.

Ex-Hartford leader Liam McGee dead at 60

Hartford Financial Services Group Inc. former Chairman, President and CEO Liam McGee died at the age of 60 on Feb. 13.

In a statement issued Monday, Hartford said that Mr. McGee died “following a courageous battle with cancer.”

Mr. McGee most recently served as Hartford’s executive chairman, a position from which he stepped down on Jan. 5. He served as chairman, president and CEO of Hartford Oct. 1, 2009, through July 1, 2014. Before joining Hartford, Mr. McGee was president of the consumer and small business bank for Bank of America Corp.

Mr. McGee oversaw the reorganization of Hartford, focusing on property/casualty, group benefit and mutual funds business while exiting its individual life, retirement plans, and broker-dealer operations, and placing its annuity business into runoff.

“Thanks to Liam’s leadership and tireless efforts, the company has completed a strategic and financial transformation and is well positioned for future success and prosperity,” said Chris Swift, Mr. McGee’s successor as chairman and CEO, in the statement. “His vision of The Hartford as an exceptional company, celebrated for financial performance, character and customer value will continue to be a guiding principle for all of our colleagues. We are grateful for Liam’s many contributions to our company and our community along with his guidance, wisdom and friendship.”
