To search specifically for more than one word, put the search term in quotation marks. For example, “workers compensation”. This will limit your search to that combination of words.

To search for a combination of terms, use quotations and the & symbol. For example, “hurricane” & “loss”.

Hawaii attracted 15 captives in 2014

Hawaii licensed 15 captives in 2014, down from 17 in 2013, but still the second highest number of formations since 2005.

“Hawaii continues to attract owners that want an experienced and business-friendly captive environment with a strategic location in the middle of the Pacific,” Hawaii Insurance Commissioner Gordon Ito said in a statement.

All 15 formations last year are single-parent captives.

With five captives dissolving, the formations in 2014 brought Hawaii’s total number of captives currently licensed to a record 194.

Since Hawaii passed its captive legislation in 1986, state regulators have licensed 290 captives.
