Jardine Lloyd Thompson Group P.L.C. has named a former Willis Group Holdings P.L.C. executive to lead its Jardine Lloyd Thompson Asia subsidiary, the firm said Friday.
Dominic Samengo-Turner, formerly Willis' co-CEO of global specialties and a director of Willis Ltd., will become CEO of JLT Asia effective May 1, the London-based brokerage said in a statement.
He will be based in Hong Kong, according to a JLT spokesman.
“Dominic Samengo-Turner is widely recognized across the industry for his deep specialty capabilities, as well as his expertise and knowledge of placements, carrier relationships and the global insurance markets,” Dominic Burke, JLT group CEO, said in the statement. “I am delighted that we have been able to attract someone of his reputation and caliber to lead our Asian business and further develop our specialty capabilities.”
Mr. Samengo-Turner takes over from Duncan Howorth, who has been CEO of JLT Asia for two years, JLT said. Based in London, Mr. Howorth will become CEO of JLT's U.K. employee benefits business, effective June 1, while also continuing in his role as the international chairman of employee benefits, according to the statement.
The current CEO of JLT's U.K. employee benefits business, Mark Wood, will retire at the end of May, according to the statement.
JLT also said Ian Robinson, currently the chief operating officer of JLT Asia, will become COO of the firm's Thistle Insurance Services Ltd. unit, effective July 1.
Finally, Warren Downey, currently CEO of JLT Specialty Ltd.'s regional risk practice and trading division, has been named deputy CEO and COO of JLT Asia in Hong Kong, effective May 1 and July 1, respectively, according to the statement.
U.K.-based insurance broker Jardine Lloyd Thompson Group P.L.C. will open its first office in India in next month, The Times of India reports.
