BI’s Article search uses Boolean search capabilities. If you are not familiar with these principles, here are some quick tips.

To search specifically for more than one word, put the search term in quotation marks. For example, “workers compensation”. This will limit your search to that combination of words.

To search for a combination of terms, use quotations and the & symbol. For example, “hurricane” & “loss”.

Federal health exchange enrollment reaches 7.3 million

Nearly 7.3 million individuals signed up for health insurance plans through the federal exchange during the first 10 weeks of the 2015 open enrollment season, the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services reported Wednesday.

Of the 7,293,989 individuals who selected exchange coverage between Nov. 15 — the start of 2015 open enrollment — and Jan. 23, just over 137,000 opted for coverage between Jan. 17 and Jan. 23.

HHS also disclosed plan selections through Jan. 23 by individuals in the 37 states in which the federal exchange is available.

Of those states, Florida had the most sign-ups for coverage over the last 10 weeks with 1,301,745, followed by Texas with 940,707, North Carolina with 467,560, Georgia with 435,523 and Pennsylvania with 425,854.

At the other end, North Dakota had the fewest number of individuals who selected plans with 15,756, followed by Alaska with 17,051, South Dakota with 18,248 and Wyoming with 18,112.

Earlier, HHS disclosed that nearly 2.4 million people as of Jan. 17 had selected a health care plan in the 14 states, including the District of Columbia, with their own exchanges.
