The Cooperative of American Physicians Inc. has named Sarah E. Pacini as CEO, effective Feb. 1.
Ms. Pacini succeeds James Weidner, who is retiring after serving as CEO since 1995, CAP said Monday in a statement.
Most recently, Ms. Pacini was vice president of risk management and insurance at Downers Grove, Illinois-based Advocate Health Care Inc., as well as president of Advocate Physician Partners' risk purchasing group and chairwoman of Advocate Insurance Segregated Portfolio Co., according to the statement.
She will be based at CAP's headquarters in Los Angeles, a spokeswoman for the organization said.
U.S. health care expenditures increased modestly in 2013 as a multiyear trend of low cost growth continued, the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services said Wednesday.
