Japan: Mazda to recall 52,000 cars over defective air bags

Mazda Motor Corp. has said that it would recall 52,000 vehicles in Japan over a potential air bag defect, reports Reuters.

The air bags were manufactured by Takata Corp.

The "investigative" recall would cover RX-8 sports cars and Atenza mid-sized cars manufactured between 2004 and 2008, said the carmaker.

Carmakers globally have recalled almost 20 million vehicles due to Takata air bags defect, Reuters reports.
