BI’s Article search uses Boolean search capabilities. If you are not familiar with these principles, here are some quick tips.

To search specifically for more than one word, put the search term in quotation marks. For example, “workers compensation”. This will limit your search to that combination of words.

To search for a combination of terms, use quotations and the & symbol. For example, “hurricane” & “loss”.

Gregory Maciag will retire as president and CEO of ACORD Corp. on Jan. 15, 2016, the Pearl River, New York-based nonprofit insurance industry standards organization announced Wednesday.

Mr. Maciag will continue serving as an adviser for one additional year through Jan. 15, 2017, which will mark his 40th anniversary with the group, ACORD said in a statement.

Mr. Maciag was hired in 1977 to launch the ACORD form library. He succeeded Robert E. Merriman as CEO in 1994 after serving in a variety of senior-level positions with ACORD and the merged Insurance Institute for Research/Agency Company Organization for Research and Development/Insurance Value Added Network System.

“It was a difficult time,” said Mr. Maciag in a statement announcing his planned retirement. “Industry leaders had very different opinions about the future of ACORD. I was given the opportunity to develop a vision and modify the mission to reflect the technology revolution that was under way at the time and still continues today.”

“I speak not only for the board of directors, but for all ACORD members, when I acknowledge Greg’s successful journey with us over the past four decades,” said ACORD Chairman John Leonard in the statement. “Greg provided us with the vision, leadership and stewardship that cultivated partnerships and placed ACORD on the international stage. We are now one of the largest and most successful industry standards development organizations in the world.”

The ACORD board will organize a five-member selection committee with three outside industry executives to identify and recommend Mr. Maciag's successor during the coming year, Mr. Leonard said in the statement.
