BI’s Article search uses Boolean search capabilities. If you are not familiar with these principles, here are some quick tips.

To search specifically for more than one word, put the search term in quotation marks. For example, “workers compensation”. This will limit your search to that combination of words.

To search for a combination of terms, use quotations and the & symbol. For example, “hurricane” & “loss”.

Claims manager Crawford buys GAB Robins for $73.3M

Claims management services provider Crawford & Co. on Monday said it has acquired London-based claims management firm GAB Robins Holdings UK Ltd. for $73.3 million.

Atlanta-based Crawford said the acquisition of GAB Robins and its U.K.-based staff of approximately 600 would enable it expand its claims management offerings in the United Kingdom and bolster its specialty lines claims services globally.

“GAB Robins brings to Crawford a wide portfolio of products, qualified technical experts, an established client base and a record of financial success,” Crawford President and CEO Jeffrey T. Bowman said in a statement. “Its in-house expertise will contribute greatly toward expanding Crawford's existing product lines, particularly in the specialist aviation sector.”

GAB Robins' current CEO, Kieran Rigby, will be appointed head of global markets for Crawford, the company said. Current Crawford U.K. & Ireland CEO Greg Gladwell and GAB Robins COO Mike Jones will jointly run Crawford's enlarged U.K. business, according to the statement.

“We expect to run both businesses separately as we finalize plans for integration in 2015,” Mr. Bowman said. “Once integration is complete, the new combined leadership team will be ideally placed to drive the combined business to new success.”
