6.7-magnitude earthquake hits Japan

The Japan Meteorological Agency has said that an earthquake measuring 6.7 in magnitude hit west of Japan's Nagano city, reported The Associated Press.

Officials said more than 50 homes were destroyed and 41 people were injured.

No damage has been reported at the three nuclear power plants in the region, said Japan's Nuclear Regulation Authority.

The worst affected area was Hakuba, with at least 43 homes destroyed.
