Singapore: Insurer Great Eastern's third quarter 2014 net profit down 31%

Singapore-based insurer Great Eastern Holdings Ltd. has said that its net profit for the third quarter of 2014 fell 31% to $194.6 million Singapore dollars ($153 million), The Straits Times reports.

The company attributed the drop to weak policy sales. Gross premiums for the period fell 4% to SGD 2.12 billion. Great Eastern said lower unrealized mark-to-market gains also contributed to the decline in profits, The Straits Times reported.
