Ghana: Sanlam Emerging Markets acquires 40% stake in Enterprise Insurance

Sanlam Emerging Markets, a unit of South African financial services group Sanlam Ltd., has acquired a stake of 40% in Ghanaian insurer Enterprise Insurance Co. Ltd., CNBCAfrica.com reported.

The deal, subject to Ghanaian regulatory approval, is worth approximately 240 million South African rand ($21.3 million). Heinie Werth, chief executive of SEM, said the deal offers a "unique opportunity to increase our economic interest" in an "underpenetrated" insurance sector in Ghana.
