There are close to 50 foreign insurers in China, but they make up less than 10% of the market share despite being in the country for over 10 years, reported WantChinaTimes.

An executive at a foreign insurer in China said foreign insurers have faced difficulty in adjusting to the Chinese market.

The main challenge for overseas nonlife players is the shortage of skilled, professional workforce, Ernst & Young L.L.P. said in a recent market report.
