China: Jan-Aug insurance premium income up 19.4% to $232.01 billion

China's insurance sector has posted 1.426 trillion Chinese yuan ($232.01 billion) in insurance premium income during the January to August period, up 19.4%, figures from the China Insurance Regulatory Commission show.

Nonlife insurance premium income increased 16.71% to CNY 498.03 billion ($81.03 billion) during the period, with the pace slowing from the 17.11% recorded during the January to July period, Hexun.com reported.

The regulator said the country's premium income is likely to hit CNY 5.1 trillion ($832.32 billion) in 2020.
