Regulatory changes increase Asia Pacific insurance mergers and acquisitions

Clyde & Co. has said in a report that mergers and acquisitions in the Asia Pacific insurance sector increased in the first half of 2014, Asia Insurance Review reported.

Regulatory changes played a key role in the increased mergers and acquisitions activity. The industry saw 33 transactions during the period, up from 27 in the prior six-month period. Michael Cripps, Asia Pacific regional head at Clyde, said Asia continues to be "an attractive proposition for insurers."
