German insurer ERGO eyes insurance assets in Eastern Europe

Germany-based insurer ERGO Versicherungsgruppe A.G. is considering acquiring some insurance assets in the Eastern European region, an executive from the company told Handelsblatt.

The insurer, a unit of Munich Reinsurance Co., plans to be among the top-10 insurers in Russia, Forinsurer reported citing Interfax. The company executive said the Western sanctions imposed against Russia are unlikely to affect ERGO's operations in Russia.
