BI’s Article search uses Boolean search capabilities. If you are not familiar with these principles, here are some quick tips.

To search specifically for more than one word, put the search term in quotation marks. For example, “workers compensation”. This will limit your search to that combination of words.

To search for a combination of terms, use quotations and the & symbol. For example, “hurricane” & “loss”.

The former supervising pharmacist at New England Compounding Center, which was held responsible for a 2012 meningitis outbreak that sickened 751 and caused the deaths of 64, was arrested Thursday as he tried to board a plane to Hong Kong, the U.S. Department of Justice said Thursday.

Glenn Adam Chin, 46, was arrested at Boston’s Logan International Airport in connection with the ongoing criminal investigation into the meningitis outbreak, which was tied to the now-bankrupt Framingham, Massachusetts-based New England Compounding Center.

The patients became ill and died from a fungal infection after receiving injections of preservative-free methylprednisolone acetate, or MPA, which was compounded at the compounding center.

The criminal complaint against Mr. Chin charges him with participating in a scheme to fraudulently cause one lot of contaminated MPA to be labeled as injectable, meaning that it was sterile and fit for human use, and shipped to one of the compounding center’s customers, Ypsilanti, Michigan-based Michigan Pain Specialists.

Doctors there injected the drug into patients, after which 217 contracted fungal meningitis and 15 of them died, the Justice Department said.
