BI’s Article search uses Boolean search capabilities. If you are not familiar with these principles, here are some quick tips.

To search specifically for more than one word, put the search term in quotation marks. For example, “workers compensation”. This will limit your search to that combination of words.

To search for a combination of terms, use quotations and the & symbol. For example, “hurricane” & “loss”.

EEOC employer survey due by end of September

The Equal Employment Opportunity Commission said Wednesday it has completed its mailing of the 2014 EEO-1 survey letters, an annual survey that all private employers with 100 or more workers must fill out.

The EEO-1 survey also is required for federal government contractors or first-tier subcontractors with 50 or more employees and contracts of $50,000 or more.

The filing deadline for the survey, which provides employment data by race/ethnicity, gender and job categories, is Sept. 30, the EEOC said.

Researchers, private attorneys, human resources staff who are developing affirmative action plans use the report as does the commission in enforcing Title II of the Civil Rights Act, which prohibits employment discrimination.

Employers that meet the criteria to fill out the report or filed a report last year that have not received their 2014 notification or have questions can contact the EEO-1 Joint Reporting Committee at 866-286-6440 or by email at e1.techassistance@eeoc.gov.

An employer that does not fill out the required report may be compelled to do so by order of a federal judge, according to the EEOC.
