BI’s Article search uses Boolean search capabilities. If you are not familiar with these principles, here are some quick tips.

To search specifically for more than one word, put the search term in quotation marks. For example, “workers compensation”. This will limit your search to that combination of words.

To search for a combination of terms, use quotations and the & symbol. For example, “hurricane” & “loss”.

Former plaintiff attorney Jenny Yang nominated to chair EEOC

President Barack Obama has nominated former plaintiff attorney Jenny R. Yang as chair of the U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission, the agency said Tuesday.

Ms. Yang, who was named vice chair of the agency by the president in April, was formerly a partner with Washington-based plaintiff law firm Cohen Milstein Sellers & Toll P.L.L.C., where she represented employees. Cohen Milstein has represented workers in the Wal-Mart Stores Inc. gender discrimination litigation.

Ms. Yang replaces outgoing Chair Jacqueline Berrien. As a member of the commission and its vice chair, Ms. Yang led a comprehensive review of the agency's systemic program, which addresses issues of alleged discrimination that have broad impact on an industry, profession, company or geographic area, the agency said.

Ms. Yang, who will be the first Asian-American chair of the EEOC, has also represented the agency on the White House initiative on Asian Americans and Pacific Islanders, the EEOC said.
