South Africa: ABSA agrees to settle earthquake damage claimsReprints
ABSA Group Ltd. has said that it will cover claims for damages from the earthquake that struck the North West province on Aug. 5, reported The Citizen.
The 5.5-magnitude earthquake killed one and injured at least 34 miners, while also damaging 600 houses.
A study by the website Justmoney revealed that at least five insurers would not pay for the damage if it was a result of mining activity.
An official at ABSA said the bank received 1,100 claims related to the quake and it will pay customers at the earliest.
