Iceland: 5.7-magnitude quake hits Bardarbunga volcano

A 5.7-magnitude earthquake has hit the Bardarbunga volcano in Iceland, making it the fourth 5.0-magnitude tremor in 48 hours, but there are no signs of an eruption, BBC reported.

Seismic activity at Bardarbunga has triggered concerns that an eruption could result in air travel problems similar to the one that followed the 2010 Eyjafjallajokull volcano eruption. Palni Erlendsson, a geologist at Iceland's Met Office, told Reuters that it is "impossible" to say whether the seismic activity "will cease, continue like this for a while or erupt."
