Ecuador: Insurance premiums total $1.66 billion between June 2013 and June 2014

The Ecuadorian insurance industry generated $1.66 billion in premiums during the June 2013 to June 2014 period, with $774 million of this being generated during the first half of 2014, Eluniverso.com reported.

Julio Tarre, president of Ecuadorian insurer Seguros Rocafuerte S.A., said the market has grown from $200 million in 2000 to $1.66 billion.

Mr. Tarre said insurers are currently awaiting the launch of a planned code and related changes for the insurance sector.
