Brazil: Insurer BB Seguridade's net income rises 54% in second quarter

Brazilian insurer BB Seguridade Participacoes S.A. recorded a 54% year-on-year increase in net income to 845 million Brazilian reals ($382 million) in the second quarter of 2014, BNamericas reported.

Mapfre BB SH2, the firm's property/casualty division, registered a 36.5% drop in net income to BRL 46.4 million. The division's written premiums rose 25% to BRL 2.14 billion.
