China: Yunnan earthquake underscores need for catastrophe insurance system

The earthquake that hit China's Yunnan Province earlier in August has highlighted the need for a strong catastrophe insurance system, reports Hexun.com.

Yunnan was among the regions for which a catastrophe insurance pilot program had been planned, but the has yet to be launched. The recent earthquake left 589 people dead and caused significant property damage. An expert said that insurance awareness needs to be improved, reports Hexun.com.
