Ireland: Businesses say insurers must renew flood cover after defense works

Businesses in Ireland said the government must make sure insurers offer flood victims renewed cover once Cork City's €50 million ($68.7 million) flood defense works are finished, Irish Examiner reported.

Jer Buckley, chairman of the Blackpool Flood Committee, said the government should be "hard on insurers if they continue to refuse cover once the works are complete" and "if the insurers continue with adverse selection, the government can refuse to renew their license."
