Colombia: El Nino drought damages crops, kills livestock

The El Nino weather phenomenon that has triggered drought in parts of Colombia has damaged crops and resulted in the death of livestock, Reuters reported.

The government has launched an emergency plan to combat the effects of the phenomenon.

The World Meteorological Organization has said there is a 75% to 80% chance that the phenomenon will reach its peak during the October to December period.
