Mexico: Only three in 10 SMEs have cover against major risks, says insurer

Seguros Banamex S.A. de C.V.'s chief executive Agustin Polanco has said that only three in 10 small and medium-sized enterprises have some kind of insurance that protects them from unforeseen events such as hurricanes, earthquakes and theft, reports.

This finding is cause for concern given that SMEs make up more than 90% of businesses in the country. Seguros Banamex recently launched a new product targeted at SMEs.
