South Africa: Strike forces automakers to halt production

Ford Motor Corp. has temporarily suspended output at its Silverton assembly plant in Pretoria, South Africa, as a two-week-old manufacturing workers' strike disrupted supply of components, Reuters reported.

Meanwhile, a spokeswoman for Toyota Motor Corp. said the company would close two production lines at their Durban plant. General Motors Co. recently closed its assembly plant in Port Elizabeth due to the strike.
