Thailand's Bank for Agriculture and Agricultural Cooperatives is expecting rice farmers to purchase crop insurance for 1.5 million rai (240,000 hectares) of farmland for the 2014 harvest year, reports Asia Insurance Review citing the Bangkok Post.

Overall premiums for crop insurance will reach 470 million Thai baht ($14.5 million) if the expected 1.5 million rai of farmland are insured.
