Japan issues alert over Typhoon Neoguri, flights disruptedReprints
The Japan Meteorological Agency has warned of destructive winds and huge waves as Typhoon Neoguri skirted the islands of Okinawa, Bloomberg reported.
The alert prompted Japan Airlines Co. and its affiliates to cancel 168 flights to and from Okinawa, and All Nippon Airways Co. Ltd. to cancel 110 flights.
Mobile phone operator NTT Docomo Inc. suffered service outages in parts of Okinawa. Kyushu Electric Power Co., operator of the Kyushu island's idled nuclear plants, would increase safety inspections if the storm appears to pose a threat, a spokeswoman said.
