BI’s Article search uses Boolean search capabilities. If you are not familiar with these principles, here are some quick tips.

To search specifically for more than one word, put the search term in quotation marks. For example, “workers compensation”. This will limit your search to that combination of words.

To search for a combination of terms, use quotations and the & symbol. For example, “hurricane” & “loss”.

FERMA certification program moves ahead with framework and funding

The Federation of European Risk Management Associations on Tuesday said it has agreed on a framework and funding provision to create a certification program for European risk managers.

The program, proposed by Brussels-based FERMA at its conference in October, will certify the professional competencies and experience of individual risk managers and accreditation for the risk management programs of educational bodies, the association said in a statement Tuesday.

FERMA said it aimed to start accepting applications for certification in 2015.

The association said its general assembly had agreed to fund the development and implementation phase of the project from its reserves.

The program will be run on a nonprofit basis, it said.

“This is one of the most important projects that FERMA has ever undertaken,” Julia Graham, the association’s president, said in the statement.

“We know there is a great appetite for certification and it will be a key achievement for FERMA and for our member associations with whom we have engaged and worked on this project closely,” Ms. Graham added.
