New Zealand: Canterbury storm causes $4.2 million in insured damage

The Insurance Council of New Zealand said the storm that hit Canterbury in February resulted in insurance payouts of $4.8 million New Zealand ($4.2 million), TVNZ reported.

The storm caused extensive flooding and brought a large hailstorm. The payouts include NZD 2.2 million for car damage, nearly NZD 1.3 million in domestic claims and NZD 1.3 million in commercial claims.
