Estonia: Insurance market's first quarter 2014 gross written premiums up 3.3%

Estonia's insurance market posted a 3.3% year-on-year increase in gross written premiums to €113.6 million ($156.4 million) during the January to March 2014 period, Xprimm reported.

Claims paid during the period totaled €61.6 million ($84.8 million), the Estonian Financial Supervision Authority said.

The country's leading player in the nonlife segment, If P&C Insurance A.S., recorded about €35 million ($48.2 million) in gross written premiums.
