Brazil: Protests in Sao Paulo turn violent

Clashes have erupted between anti-government protesters and police in Sao Paulo, Reuters reported. Protesters vandalized cars and banks and destroyed public property, while police fired tear gas.

A protester said the protest is not against the World Cup but "more of a commemoration of what happened a year ago." The country witnessed a series of protests in June 2013 that drew large crowds of people into the streets.
