BI’s Article search uses Boolean search capabilities. If you are not familiar with these principles, here are some quick tips.

To search specifically for more than one word, put the search term in quotation marks. For example, “workers compensation”. This will limit your search to that combination of words.

To search for a combination of terms, use quotations and the & symbol. For example, “hurricane” & “loss”.

FCC workshop to focus on helping deter mobile device theft

Reprints

Developing practical, consumer-oriented technical solutions to deter mobile device theft is among the topics that will be covered at a Federal Communications Commission workshop scheduled for June 19 on the issues surrounding mobile device theft.

Other topics to be discussed during panel discussion at the workshop include making more standardized and accessible data available for mobile device crime reporting for law enforcement and other uses, the FCC said.

In addition, there will be a panel discussion on establishing best practices to improve coordination between federal, state and local law enforcement on the issue, including greater involvement of customs enforcement officials.

The FCC noted in its announcement that 3.1 million mobile devices were stolen in 2013, which was nearly double the 2012 amount. The announcement says insuring stolen smartphones, tablets, cellphones and other personal electronics devices costs Americans an estimated $2.5 billion annually.

The meeting will be held from 9 a.m. to 2:15 p.m. at FCC headquarters at 445 12th St. SW, Room TW-C305, Washington, D.C.
