Brazil: Metro strike in Sao Paulo continues as start of World Cup nears

Police fired tear gas to disperse striking metro workers at Sao Paulo's Ana Rosa station, just days before the opening match of the 2014 soccer World Cup, Reuters reported.

The strike caused major traffic jams and people faced delays getting into the city.

The strikes and protests are creating a climate of unease ahead of the World Cup, analysts said.

In another incident, part of a monorail under construction collapsed, killing at least one passerby, local media reported.
