Uganda: Risk trends not catastrophic, says Aon

Despite rising levels of claims payments across Uganda, Aon Uganda Ltd. said an increase in premium prices is unlikely in the short term, East African Business Week reported.

Aon Uganda chief executive Maurice Amogola said "our market is currently not as sophisticated as in more developed economies in that the risk trends are not catastrophic and do not influence the premiums that insurers charge."

Aon, in partnership with several Ugandan insurers, paid out 10.5 billion Ugandan shillings ($4.1 million) in claims in 2013.
