New Zealand: Insured losses of Easter storm $39 million

The Insurance Council of New Zealand said the Easter storm that hit the country's West Coast particularly hard in April 2014 has caused provisional insured losses of nearly $46 million New Zealand ($39 million), TVNZ reported.

Damage to commercial property totaled about $16 million New Zealand ($13.5 million).

Council CEO Tim Grafton said overall storm damage during the year has come to $71 million New Zealand ($60.3 million) so far.
