Kenya: Regulatory official urges insurers to cover terrorist attacks

Nkirote Mworia, corporation secretary and legal affairs manager at Kenya's Insurance Regulatory Authority, said "terrorism is a reality and insurers must start issuing covers to protect unfortunate victims," Xinhua reported.

Currently, around 20 insurers offer terrorism coverage in the country. This figure is expected to go up as the 2013 Westgate attack has led to building owners extending their covers to include terrorism. The attack led to loss of "property running into billions of shillings," Ms. Mworia said.
