New Zealand: Canterbury Provincial buildings' repairs likely to cost $42 million plus

Restoration work on the Canterbury Provincial Council buildings, which suffered heavy damage during a February 2011 earthquake, is likely to cost at least $50 million New Zealand ($42.4 million), reported Stuff.co.nz.

The Christchurch City Council said the costs could reach as much as NZD 70 million. The amount is much higher than the council's expected insurance pay-out of around NZD 30 million, Stuff.co.nz reported.
