Flooding in south China kills 37, destroys homes and crops

Heavy rains in south China have killed at least 37 people, the China National Commission for Disaster Reduction said.

Several farms were submerged, while 25,000 houses collapsed, Xinhua reported.

Around 264,800 hectares of crops have been damaged by floods and other related catastrophes, which in total resulted in a direct economic loss of 7.35 billion Chinese yuan ($1.17 billion), reports Xinhua.
