Insurer Chaucer moves Latin American office to MiamiReprints
Chaucer Syndicates Ltd., a specialist Lloyd’s of London insurance group, will open an office in Miami in the fourth quarter of 2014 to develop Latin American business for Chaucer syndicate 1084.
Chaucer will close its office in Buenos Aires, Argentina, the London-based insurer announced in a statement Tuesday.
“Miami is growing as a hub for Latin American business, and we believe that our new office will be a positive addition to this successful market,” Andrew Voke, head of production at Chaucer syndicate 1084, said in the statement.
Uwe Fischer, Chaucer’s regional development director for Latin America, will relocate from the Buenos Aires office to the Miami office. He has experience as a reinsurance underwriter in Latin America and will lead his team to develop more business throughout the region, according to the statement.
“This is an important step for Chaucer’s business in Latin America,” Mr. Fischer said in the statement. “Having initially explored the region’s potential from our office in Buenos Aires, I am now excited at the opportunity provided by our new office in Miami to develop our business.”
