U.K.: Increased compensation for communities affected by fracking

Communities affected by fracking in the United Kingdom will be offered an average of 800,000 ($1.3 million) in additional compensation, ministers will announce.

The increased compensation is an attempt to stave off opposition to the technique, reports The Guardian. The British Geological Survey is expected to disclose in a study the presence of large shale gas reserves in Surrey, Kent, Sussex and Hampshire, The Guardian reported.
