Turkey: 400 mines ready to explode, says expertReprints
Mehmet Torun, former head of the Chamber of Mining Engineers, said around 400 mining facilities in Turkey pose huge safety risks, Hurriyet Daily News reported.
Mr. Torun said "there (are) 400 mines ready to explode." Meanwhile, Ayhan Yüksel, current head of the Mining Engineers Chamber, highlighted risks of Turkey's planned nuclear plants in a poor inspection environment. Mr. Yüksel said it is not "logical" of the government "to take such a foreign-dependent move before making the total use of our coal."
