Philippines: Seen Sam Shipping pays out for oil spill damage

Seen Sam Shipping Inc., owner of the sunken cargo vessel M/V Sportivo that caused a minor oil spill in Guimaras island province, has paid nearly 2.2 million Philippine pesos ($50,160) in compensatory damages, the Manila Bulletin reported.

Around PHP 1.8 million ($41,040) was paid to the affected fishermen in Buenavista and Jordan.

Raymund Moderes, executive assistant to Guimaras Governor Samuel Gumarin, said criminal charges will be pursued against Seen Sam.
