Saudi Arabia: Pollution concerns could prompt closure of factories

Saudi Arabia's Eastern Province Municipality plans to shut down or relocate manufacturing plants situated outside the borders of industrial cities that do not meet the new environmental and health standards, Arab News reported.

Jamal bin Nasser Al-Mulheim, deputy mayor for reconstruction and projects, said "a grace period will be granted for the party concerned to address all these issues."

Factories carrying expired environmental licenses could face consequences.
