Philippines: Insurance agency introduces program for typhoon-affected farmers

The Philippine Crop Insurance Corp. has introduced an insurance program for croplands in Western Visayas region for fisherman and farmers, who were affected by the November 2013 Typhoon Haiyan, Sun Star reported.

Meanwhile, the agency's regional director Charlito Brilleta said they paid out 20 million Philippines pesos ($448,000) worth of crop insurance claims last year and an additional PHP 11 million ($246,400) in the first three months of 2014, reports Sun Star.
