Strike halts work on Panama Canal expansionReprints
A nationwide strike by construction workers demanding higher wages halted work to expand the Panama Canal, Seatrade Global reported.
The Construction Workers National Union (Suntracs) said 98% of the construction sites in Panama participated in the strike. The Grupo Unidos por el Canal said "construction workers, union members are heeding the call to strike." While workers did come to work on April 23, they remained "inactive."
