BI’s Article search uses Boolean search capabilities. If you are not familiar with these principles, here are some quick tips.

To search specifically for more than one word, put the search term in quotation marks. For example, “workers compensation”. This will limit your search to that combination of words.

To search for a combination of terms, use quotations and the & symbol. For example, “hurricane” & “loss”.

Markham McKnight, president of Baton Rouge, La.-based BancorpSouth Insurance Services Inc., is the new chairman of Worldwide Broker Network, WBN announced this week.

Mr. McKnight, who served as chairman of the Council of Insurance Agents and Brokers in 2008, succeeds Florian Karle, managing partner of Suedvers Gruppe, of Au bei Freiburg, Germany.

Three new members also joined the group's board:

--Alan Fergusson, employee benefits director at Kudos Financial Services, which is part of Mattioli Woods P.L.C., headquartered in Aberdeen, Scotland.

--Brian M. Hetherington, CEO and co-chairman of ABD Insurance & Financial Services of San Mateo, Calif.

--Dirk Van Liempt, CEO of ADD NV, headquartered in Heverlee, Belgium.

WBN, which is celebrating its 25th anniversary this year, has grown from nine firms in Western Europe to nearly 100 firms spanning the globe and serving clients through approximately 500 offices throughout the world.

“These generally are the largest independently owned firms in their respective markets, providing the highest degree of client service to both insurance and employee benefits clients,” according to WBN, which says its members generate an estimated $35 billion in property/casualty and employee benefits premiums annually.
