Russia: Area of wildfires exceeds 12,000 hectares, says officialReprints
A spokesman for the Russian Ministry of Emergency Situations has said there are currently "97 spots of fire in an area of more than 12,000 hectares, including 23 major ones," ITAR-TASS reported.
The spokesman said 266 fires broke out over the previous day. He ruled out any threat to nearby localities and economic facilities, ITAR-TASS reports. "The most serious situation is in Primorsky Krai," and in the Irkursk and Amur regions, he said.
