China: Property insurance premiums up 16.14% in first quarter of 2014

China's property insurance premiums for the first three months of 2014 amounted to 175.7 billion Chinese yuan ($28.25 billion), up 16.14% year on year, figures from the China Insurance Regulatory Commission show.

The insurance industry's premiums rose 35.9% year on year to CNY 699.98 billion ($112.55 billion), Xinhua reported.

The industry's total assets by the end of March 2014 totaled CNY 8.95 trillion ($1.439 trillion), 7.93% more than at the beginning of 2014.
